SignalGeneriX sponsors the ‘Blue-Growth, the Irish model’ workshop

The Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Maritime Institute of Eastern Mediterranean and the Cyprus Shipping Chamber hosted an event at the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry dedicated on promoting ‘Blue Growth’ in Cyprus. The event, which was sponsored by SignalGeneriX was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Works Mr. Tasos Mitsopoulos who also participated at the event.

Several high profile Industry members and decision makers in the Cypriot marine and maritime sectors, including the Minister for Communications and Work, gathered to learn about the Irish strategy towards Blue Growth and the role that SmartBay Ireland plays in it.

In his address Cypriot Communications and Works Minister, Tasos Mitsopoulos – said that “Ireland, being at the other edge of the EU, has made significant progress towards this end. So we highly value your presence in Cyprus and we are ready to listen and gain knowledge from your invaluable experience”. The ambassador of Ireland in Cyprus who also participated in the event talked about the traditionally strong relationships between the two countries and the prospects of collaboration and joint ‘blue growth’ initiatives.

Strong links have been forged through the workshop, with strong prospects for cooperation and collaboration expected between the Irish and Cypriot Marine and Maritime sectors.

The Irish delegation included Dr Rogério Chumbinho, Senior Project Manager, SmartBay Ireland and Dr. Edel O’Connor, National Coordinator. They delivered presentations on the SmartBay project and Ireland’s approach to the EU’s strategy on Blue Growth.
