SignalGeneriX hosts and trains Girls in STEAM Academy
SignalGeneriX encourages young women to develop an interest in careers in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), by organising different workshops together with Girls in STEAM Academy.
SignalGeneriX hosted three workshops with the goal of challenging the girls in the fields of electronics, robotics and artificial intelligence. With the idea of creating a contact between the girls and reputable scientists in the field, exchange opinions and inform about professional opportunities before choosing their career. SignalGeneriX also aimed to demonstrate the importance of teamwork and networking with industry experts to collaborate for optimal results which would impact the lives of millions of people.
The three workshops were:
- Microelectronics and Hardware Development using a microscope and an automatic robot for soldering on electronic circuit boards.
- Rapid Prototyping and Design in Solidworks of a prototype to scale and 3D printing and laser engraving.
- Software Development – Creating interactive code for sensors.
This initiative reflects SignalGeneriX’s wish of gaining new blood in the computer engineering industry, together with the wish of equal representation of men and women in technological professions that would serve as inspiration for younger generations. SignalGeneriX aspires to break down stereotypes and attract more young women with skills in technology, thus closing the gap in the participation of women in STEAM fields.
The co-founders of Girls In STEAM Academy, Anastasia Liopetriti and Panagiota Polykarpou, expressed satisfaction that established companies such as SignalGeneriX are embracing the effort to eliminate gender inequality in technological professions and prioritize skills.
