The president of the Cyprus Association of Research and Innovation Enterprises (CARIE) and CEO of SignalGeneriX Tasos Kounoudes talks about the participation of six Cypriot research companies working in defence in DEFEA 2023.

In a billion-dollar market, the national defence industry of Cyprus is making its first small steps in the big exhibition of defence and security DEFEA 2023, which will take place from the 9th to the 11th of May in the Metropolitan Expo in Athens. Cyprus will take place for the second time in this exhibition with a stand, and this participation is organised by the Cyprus Association of Research and Innovation Enterprises (CARIE) and backed by the Ministry of Defence.

The stand will host six Cypriot companies working in the emerging Cypriot defence industry. These companies work both in research and commerce of the defence and security industry. All the technologies presented in the fair are of Cypriot design and manufacturing, from drones to systems of electronic warfare, armoury systems and maybe more.

The Cypriot defence industry is quite dynamic and rapidly evolving. The companies are looking forward to being in the fair that apart from the 27 countries who are participating, has thousands of visitors. Furthermore, the companies are building upon the already stablished recent successes that they have as companies. These successes include the participation in 17 contracts of design and development of defence systems, with a total value of 170 million euros. The main goal in DEFEA 2023 is the reinforcement of collaboration with companies of all around the world. And the promotion of Cypriot products in international markets.
