EONIOS Co-Development Formalised by SignalGeneriX, CMMI, Arkeocean and Lanego
At Eurosatory 2024 in Paris, Arkeocean, SignalGeneriX Ltd, Lanego and the Cyprus Marine & Maritime Institute (CMMI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to co-develop EONIOS, an innovative system aimed at enhancing the monitoring and protection of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). As vast regions worldwide are designated for ecological preservation, EONIOS seeks to provide a scalable, autonomous solution capable of continuous environmental monitoring and regulatory enforcement in remote ocean areas.
SignalGeneriX’s role in EONIOS focuses on delivering the system’s sensing and communication capabilities. In collaboration with CMMI, SignalGeneriX will develop advanced environmental sensor modules integrated into large solar-powered buoy platforms (approximately 3 m in diameter and 7 m in height). These buoys will host a wide range of underwater and surface sensors, and SignalGeneriX will also design the long-range communication links that transmit all collected data securely to shore, enabling real-time or near-real-time environmental awareness.
