Presentation of the progress of the SWSOIP project
Mr Marios Milis, head of software development at SignalGeneriX, participated today at the SWSOIP project progress presentation. The SWSOIP (Smart Watering System for Optimizing Irrigation Process) project aims to develop a smart system for optimizing irrigation by estimating evapotranspiration using satellite and meteorological data. This data will inform farmers and decision-makers about crop water needs, enabling more efficient water management.
The presentation took place as part of the presentation of the progress of the two separate calls for proposals funded by ESA PECS done by Prof Diofantos Hadjimitsis, Dr Christiana Papoutsa and Dr Michalakis Christoforou. This project, EXCELSIOR, aims to create a new, autonomous and self-sustained Centre of Excellence entitled as ‘ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence (ERATOSTHENES CoE)’ that will upgrade the existing Remote Sensing and Geo-Environment Lab, operating within the Department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics, Faculty of Engineering and Technology of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT).
