The Cyprus Association of Research and Innovation Enterprises (CARIE) and the French Maritime Industry Association (GICAN) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the presence of the Ministers of Defense Michalis Giorgallas and Justice and Public Order Anna Prokopiou, as well as the Ambassador of France in Cyprus Salina Grenet-Catalano, with the goal of strengthening defence industrial cooperation.

The event in which the memorandum was signed was hosted by the Ambassador of France, Mrs. Grenet-Catalano, to which we are thankful. We are also thankful to the French Defense Attaché Arnaud Peyronnet and the French Internal Security Attaché Cyril Gamet, for their support.

The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by the President of the Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and founder and CEO of SignalGeneriX, Dr. Tasos Kounoudis, and Jean-Marie Dumon from GICAN, reassuring the increase in the strength of the strategic partnership between both business associations.

The goal of this Franco-Cypriot cooperation is the collaboration between both parties in innovation, defence and security. This agreement strengthens even more the joint promotion of European projects and the exchange of know-how between French and Cypriot Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), to develop projects of common interests.

The report presented by Minister of Defense Michalis Giorgallas on new avenues of cooperation, delivered during the first French-Cypriot Security and Defence Workshop in Nicosia, represents for us a vote of confidence from the government. It serves as a strong encouragement to continue leading the way in seizing opportunities and fostering synergies in research, technology, and innovation.

CARIE and GICAN members are already jointly developing new technologies in ten projects of the European Defence Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP) and the European Defence Fund (EDF), with a total budget of 150 million euros.
