The first scientific data collection buoy was placed in the sea off Amathus

The first scientific data collection buoy for observing environmental parameters of the sea, developed by the Cyprus Institute for the Sea and Maritime Affairs in collaboration with SignalGeneriX, BlueWise Marine, Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, GEOIMAGING, Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute, Maritime Institute of Eastern Mediterranean, and Marine Institute of Ireland, was placed yesterday in the marine area of ​​Amathus.

The smart buoy will measure oceanographic and meteorological data, as well as physical, biochemical, and ecological information. The aim of the project is to contribute to marine observation, the exchange of marine data and expertise, for the benefit of National and European goals, but also of the scientific community, given the exceptional importance of the eastern Mediterranean Sea in relation to climate change.
