The 1st International Defence and Security Conference in Cyprus

The Cyprus Association of Research and Innovation Companies (CAIRN) in collaboration with the company CD Multimedia Services presented for the first time the International Defence and Security Conference “BATTLEFIELD ReDEFiNED 2023”, held with great success in Limassol, between 23-24 January 2023, with over 180 participants. SignalGeneriX CEO and president of the Cyprus Association of Research and Innovation Companies, Dr. Tasos Kounoudes, discusses the success of the conference.

The Cypriot defence industry participated actively and interactively with exhibition areas within the conference area, presenting exhibits such as unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned ground vehicles, electronic warfare systems, software, artificial intelligence (AI) systems, etc. Companies from Greece and major companies in the European defence industry also participated with exhibits.

The Cypriot defence industry had the opportunity to showcase its activities, the technologies and products developed by the members, its international collaborations and its active participation in the European defence industry. The highlight of the conference was the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Cyprus Association of Research and Innovation Enterprises and the Hellenic Aerospace Security and Defence Industries Group, in the presence of the Greek Ambassador and the Minister of Defence, paving the way for creative and productive collaborations between the two organizations.

The success of this conference is measured by the range of systems, technologies and methodologies presented, and by the opportunities created for participants to exchange views and create a strong cooperation network. This conference constitutes a strong basis for strengthening the defence and security ecosystem for Cyprus, as well as highlighting the capabilities of the domestic defence industry.
