SignalGeneriX launches a Wisense® Data Buoy
SignalGeneriX in collaboration with the Remote Sensing Laboratory of the Cyprus University of Technology and the Water Development Department of Cyprus launches a Wisense® Data Buoy in Asprokremmos Dam.
The Remote Sensing Laboratory of the department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics of the Cyprus University of Technology in collaboration with the Water Department of Cyprus selected the Wisense® Data Buoy as a floating platform for real time remote monitoring of water quality in Dams. The data buoy, loaded with various water quality sensors, has been deployed in the Asprokremmos Dam, the second bigger Dam in Cyprus (53 million m3 of water), for real time monitoring of water quality. The system is sampling various in-water parameters and transmits the data to a server located at the Remote Sensing Laboratory.
Associate Professor Diofantos Hadjimitsis, who is heading the Remote Sensing lab said “We have been working closely with the Water Development Department for many years in various research projects aiming to provide better water quality for the community. We are now delighted that a Wisense Data Buoy, customized to meet our needs, has been deployed in Asprokremmos Dam. The Wisense floating platform is giving us significant amounts of real-time data for the water quality and quantity in the Dam. It is an innovative tool enabling us to fully control our sensors, and manage the data from our laboratory which is located around 80Km away”
