SignalGeneriX is providing its technical expertise in automatic metering technologies to the Water Board of Limassol in the framework of the Mediterranean Sea Basin program AquaKnight. Aquaknight is funded under the multilateral cross-border cooperation “Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme” which is part of the new European Neighborhood Policy (ENP).
Mediterranean water resources are extremely under stress especially in the south and eastern shore. In Jordan, Lebanon and Tunisia, water demand constantly increases, while water use efficiency can still be considered as limited. These are two most critical factors regarding the sustainability of the most elementary earth resource: water. Under this concept, policies aiming at improving usage efficiency and at reduced losses and poor usage are urgently needed.
In this sense, Aquaknight project focuses on optimizing consumption and minimizing the Non-Revenue Water through the implementation of five pilot projects in the cities of Limassol (Cyprus), Genoa (Italy), Alexandria (Egypt), Tunis, (Tunisia), and Aqaba (Jordan). SignalGeneriX is acting as a technical consultant for the Water Board of Limassol and will mainly focus its activities in devising hardware specifications, analyzing and evaluating the data collected via the water network and also providing technology transfer and training seminars in water control and management issues.
The consortium includes 10 partners from 6 countries : Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (Greece), Studio Galli Ingegneria Spa (Italy), Water Board of Lemesos (Cyprus), IREN Acqua Gas S.p.a (Italy), Sonede (Tunisia), COMETE Engineering (Tunisia), Alexandria Water Company (Jordan), SignalGeneriX Ltd (Cyprus), University of Palermo (Italy).
