BATTLEFIELD ReDEFiNED 2023 | Dr. Tasos Kounoudes – President of CARIE and CEO SignalGeneriX

Dr Tasos Kounoudes, president of CARIE and CEO of SignalGeneriX, shows his satisfaction about the success of the first international Defence and Security conference held in Cyprus in cooperation with CARIE and Cyprus Defence Industry Cluster, BATTLEFIELD ReDEFINED 2023.

The conference was a success as it was attended by all the stakeholders, important speakers from all over the world especially from DEFIS and from the European Defence Agency, professionals from very big European companies, and a lot of participants. Furthermore, there was a very strong participation of Cypriot companies that had the opportunity to showcase their products. Dr Kounoudes thanks CD Multimedia for organising the event.

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CARIE and HASDIG took place during the conference, bringing benefits to the Greek and Cypriot companies working in Defence and Security. The members of both associations already have contracts for developing new products, with a total value of 77 million euros, constituting a very solid base to build from. In addition, this collaboration would raise Cyprus’ national pride as it would allow to develop national products and increase the collaboration between both countries.

The development of a Cypriot defence and security industry is a necessity as the tax money spend in defence and security reaches 8 billion euros. However, despite this huge investment not a product or a part of a product has been developed locally. Expenses in defence should not be regarded as necessity expenses but as a pillar for development and economic growth, creation of new jobs and raising the economy through exports and development of wealth.
