The drone-based situational awareness platform THISEAS was showcased by the Cypriot Ministry of Defence at the Stavros Stylianidis Military Camp. The event was attended by the Minister of Defence Vasilis Palmas, senior officers of the National Guard, and representatives from Cypriot defence companies and universities.

Developed under ATHENA, Cyprus’ first domestic dual-use research and innovation programme, THISEAS demonstrated a series of advanced capabilities, including real-time target detection and classification using unmanned aerial systems.

THISEAS is an integrated drone-based situational awareness platform that combines high-resolution electro-optical sensing with radio-emission detection and direction-finding technology. Within this collaborative project, SignalGeneriX contributes its RFHUNTER® Direction-Finding (DF) system, which is integrated directly onto the quadcopter drones, enabling them to detect, analyse, and localise RF emitters in real time.

Data collected by the drones is transmitted to a virtual-reality Command Centre, providing operators with enhanced situational awareness, faster decision-making, and improved operational intelligence. THISEAS highlights the growing capabilities of Cyprus’ defence and technology ecosystem and its commitment to developing sovereign dual-use technologies through close collaboration between industry, academia, and research centres.
