ROadway Network Distress Assessment (RONDA)
Project Overview
RONDA project aims for the development of a data-driven framework, pattern recognition techniques and low-cost sensor technologies for the detection, classification and georeferencing of roadway pavement surface anomalies, and the development of technologies for adaptive-location traffic monitoring by use of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). Further, the project aims the creation of a decision support system (DSS) for the holistic vulnerability assessment of transport networks, encompassing a series of key vulnerability assessment modules and utilizing in-development analysis models, custom software/hardware solutions and data management tools. The vision of the proposed project is to gradually evolve into a national platform and DSS for the holistic vulnerability assessment of transport networks, tightly integrating with the Ministry of Transport’s traffic modelling platform and the Ministry’s open-data initiative.
