High Frequency Over The Horizon Sensors’ Cognitive Network
Project Overview:
The main objective of iFURTHER is to detect and track air and sea targets at long distances in over-the-horizon modes, exploiting the properties of skywave and sea surface-wave HF propagation. This will help to complete the range of existing systems and to safeguard the area from potential threats. The implementation of various multistatic sensors located over Europe and interconnected with ad hoc network protocols and the appropriate infrastructure for sensor synchronization and coordination, e.g. C2 (Command and Control) centre, will help to fill the gaps and to extend the current EU radar coverage. iFURTHER offers a disruptive and game-changing concept based on a cognitive network of HF radars for the revolutionary enhancement of European Defence.
