A Cost-Effective, Fast-to-Deploy, Low-Power and Flexible Video Surveillance System (CHAMELEON)
Project Overview
The European Union today faces security challenges entirely different from those at the time of its inception” (ESRIA). An alarming rise in crime rates, vandalism on private and public property, terrorist threats and border crimes, riots and natural hazards have conditioned the world to become more security conscious. Currently these are among the top priority agendas in the European Parliament.
In this scope the Chameleon project will develop novel technology that will revolutionise the way CCTV operators work, introducing cost effective technologies that will enable surveillance using fewer monitors with panoramic views. The main aim of Chameleon is to develop a cost effective, fast-to-deploy, low power and flexible video surveillance system that automatically combines images from multiple cameras with overlapping regions to create a natural seamless panoramic view of the monitored area.
