Ad-Hoc Wireless Sensor Networks for Automatic Meter Reading and Vulnerability Assessment of Water Piping Networks

Project Overview
Sustainable management of urban water distribution networks should include not only new methodologies for monitoring, repairing or replacing aging infrastructure, but more importantly it should facilitate the modelling of the state of each piping network, the predictive analysis of its behaviour over time and the continuous monitoring of the network’s operational parameters and water consumption at each ‘node’. The AMR project will take the knowledge developed so far to a different level, expanding the relevant scientific framework and culminating in an integrated hardware/software solution of wireless sensors that can be used for both vulnerability assessment and automatic meter reading for urban water distribution networks.
